The Art & Soul of Baking

Every good baker needs a little help now and then.  Having a reliable baking handbook nearby can give you the confidence you need to try something new, or just brush up on knowledge you learned long ago.

The Art & Soul of Baking is my favorite baking handbook.  Sur La Table and professional pastry chef Cindy Mushet teach you all of the basics, methods and techniques of baking.  Each chapter explains ingredients and equipment to be used.  The photography is wonderful and throughout the book you will learn "what the pros know."    I know you will want to add this book to your collection.  Happy reading!

Welcome to My Baking Blog

Hi, my name is Pam and I am a baking fanatic! I've been wanting to write a blog for quite some time now, but wasn't sure if I would know how to do it.  I'm not an expert at all with technology, but I am going to go ahead and see what happens.    While I am learning how to get my blog going, I hope you will enjoy all of the baking related information I have to share with you.

My mother first taught me how to bake at nine years old.  Since then, I have self-taught myself by reading dozens of cookbooks and magazines related to food.  There is hardly a time when I'm not watching a cooking show at home.  I began entering recipe contests after I got married, and quickly became hooked.  My efforts led me to become a finalist three times at the Pillsbury Bake Off.  The Taste of Home cooking magazine has also published three of my recipes.  One of the most exciting things I've done is to help judge the APC's Great American Pie contest.

I hope I can inspire some of you to get in the kitchen and be creative!  Baking is a great way to relief stress and can be fun when the family joins in.  There is nothing better than to please family and friends with something homemade from your own kitchen.

Remember, don't bake to live, "Live to Bake!"
All the best,
Pam
