My Favorite Mixing Bowl
This is my pride and joy in the kitchen! About 25 years ago, I purchased this antique yellow ware mixing bowl with a banded rolled rim at an antique show. It dates itself back to around the late 1800's to early 1900's. The bowl size is 14" and I paid $40.00 for it. If I were to buy this bowl today, I would have to pay a small fortune. I saw one recently that was only a 10 1/4" going for $150.00! So glad I bought mine when I did. I keep it on display and use it only for special recipes. Of course, I only hand wash it and never use an electric mixer in it.
All good bakers should have numberous sizes of mixing bowls on hand. But for most recipes, a 12" is a good size to have. I personally prefer a good ceramic bowl for every day use.
Happy baking,
Pam
